Participating in career and technical education courses (CTE), completing transition assessments and participating job internships are important for student growth and understanding the workforce.
Transition planning in elementary school is encouraged for all students with disabilities. Students and their families are encouraged to explore jobs and work on independent living skills at home and in the community. If your student requires more significant support it is important to get on Texas Medicaid waivers waiting lists to ensure services when your student is an adult.

Transition and career Assessments are essential for students to identify their career interests and discover job opportunities. Students in special education services must complete at least one transition assessment per IEP year.
