  • - ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD list of Central Texas resources in the domains of employment, case management, recreation/leisure, and more.
  • - Guide includes transition services; employment and supported employment services; social security programs; community and long-term services and support; postsecondary educational programs and services; and more.
  • Medicaid Waivers - Medicaid waivers provide long term support for students with disabilities to obtain services in the community. Interest lists in Texas are long and it is highly recommended to have your student added as soon as you receive a diagnosis.
  • Day Programs - Day programming provides recreational and social activities for adults with disabilities. Medicaid waivers can provide funding for programming.
  • Transportation - Navigating the community is essential for independent living. For students with disabilities, options are available for safe navigation.

    • - Capital Metro can provide students training on how to ride the bus and learn fixed routes. 
  • Housing - There are a wide range of options available for students interested in living independently.
  • - Resource Center for Independent Living is dedicated to the advancement and full participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of life.
  • ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD Supported Employment (SE) - Supported Employment is designed to help ÁùºÏ±¦µä students with disabilities obtain competitive, paid employment by working with an ÁùºÏ±¦µä job coach. Contact Transition Specialist for more information.
  • - Provides workforce development services to students and adults with disabilities.
  •  - Provides services for career training, job searching, youth services, apprenticeships, and more.
  • - Job search assistance, training, and career development case management opportunities for individuals with and without disabilities in Travis County.
  • - Central Texas trade unions and paid apprenticeship programs.
  • - Free, residential career training and education program for low-income young adults ages 16–24.
  • - Programming focused on developing the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges of adolescence, move toward independence, and break the cycle of poverty.

Summer Employment Opportunities

  •  - Work based learning programming for Travis County residents for students with and without disabilities. 
  •  - Program provides students with disabilities, ages 16–22, with work readiness training and paid work experience during the summer. Partnership of Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). Student must be enrolled and receiving services from TWC-VR to participate in SEAL programming.
  •  - Best Buddies is a social group in ÁùºÏ±¦µä for people with and without disabilities, with a mission to create long lasting, inclusive friendships. There are chapters of this organization at different ages (high school, college, citizens) to include all who want to join and make lifelong friendships.
  • - Special Olympics is an organization that provides sports training and competition to individuals with disabilities, giving them the opportunity to stay physically active, connected with their community, and a place to experience bravery and joy.
  •  - Services include both adaptive and inclusive programs which are facilitated and supported by Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. 
  • - Program that builds self-esteem, confidence, fitness and lasting friendships for people with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities through inclusive rowing and paddling.
