REBuild and REBrand the way we do business with HUBs
On October 12th, 2022, the ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD Economic Opportunity Office (formerly HUB Program Department) launched an initiative to increase the opportunities and involvement of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) in the District’s construction procurement process. This initiative began with a review of 2017 Bond Project HUB Goals and participation in partnership with . Opportunity Consulting, a Black and Hispanic Woman-owned business, is an independent consulting firm contracted to maintain transparency in this process. In tandem with a review of 2017 Bond Project data Opportunity Consulting reached out to HUB, Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), and Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) vendors to complete a short survey about their experiences with ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD construction procurement.
The goals of this project were to:
- Improve the solicitation process and ensure it is more equitable;
- Learn about HUB/MBE/WBE working with ÁùºÏ±¦µä project managers, construction management leadership, and ÁùºÏ±¦µä awarded General Contractors; and,
- Identify how the district can improve its policies and processes to ensure greater HUB/MBE/WBE involvement in ÁùºÏ±¦µä 2022 Bond Program construction projects
