Program History
Started in 1982, VICTORY grew out of the Carver Branch Librarian's desire to help students achieve success in school by providing a homework center staffed by community volunteers. By the late 1980's, the Oak Springs and University Hills branches also had homework centers. In 1992, the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Public Library received a VISTA grant to provide coordination support for the centers, and the VICTORY Program was officially established. Now in collaboration with ÁùºÏ±¦µä Department of Student Support Services, student and tutor participation in the program has grown steadily.
