Overview

The Alternative Learning Center is a school community built on second chances—and a deeply rooted belief that every student desires and deserves to achieve their greatest potential. Students attend the ALC for a variety of reasons, including social and discipline challenges at their home schools as well as community-based incidents.

The ALC team provides academic instruction, reading intervention programs and character education to help students modify inappropriate behavior, achieve academically and develop social skills to succeed at their home schools and in their communities and families.

As part of the registration process, families meet privately with a counselor to identify students’ needs and determine services and resources. Specialists identify the strengths and gaps in students’ learning and provide specific support and interventions.

To ensure students have structured and focused instruction, ALC maintains a low student-teacher ratio. ALC’s highly qualified educators cover the same coursework and follow the same curriculum guides as students’ home campuses.

The ALC team knows many students face challenges in their lives. But, once students have the support they need, they perform exceedingly well. By meeting every student where they are—with an eye on where they want to go—the ALC changes lives one student at a time.
