FMP Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Facility Master Plan?
The Facility Master Plan guides district decision making about the use of its buildings. The FMP:
- outlines the current status and future use of district facilities,
- guides the development of future capital improvements, and
- supports planning for future bond elections.
The FMP is a living document and is reviewed periodically. The district hopes to use the current update to guide modernization of ÁùºÏ±¦µä schools and other buildings, many of which are over 50 years old.
What is the Facility and Bond Planning Advisory Committee? What role does FABPAC play in the FMP update and bond planning?
The FABPAC is a board of trustees-appointed committee made up of 18 community members, many of whom are parents or involved in their school communities. Their role is to advise the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent on updating the FMP and developing recommendations for bond proposals.
Does this Facility Master Plan work for the next bond only, or is there more to it?
The Facility Master Plan is a long-range plan that will help guide the district’s efforts to improve school buildings and other facilities for the next 15 to 25 years. All bond proposals to fund capital projects would have to be approved by the Board of Trustees after an extensive community engagement process. Ultimately, all bonds have to be approved by the voters.
