ϱ ISD families have a new advocate and proponent to help make the registration process easier as the district has named an executive director of student enrollment and advocacy.
Alejandro Delgado will lead the new office, which is charged with improving families’ experiences with registration and reaching out to draw families back into ϱ. He will also be responsible for the Parent Engagement Support Office and enhancing their work with families.
For the past three years, Delgado was the deputy chief of staff to Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath. His experience includes serving as a principal and project director for Foundation Communities, where he created programs and services from birth to college for children and families living within the South ϱ neighborhood of St. Elmo.
He also served as a principal with IDEA Allan College Prep, an East ϱ public charter. Before that, Delgado started his education career at IDEA Public Schools as a high school social studies teacher.
“Alejandro, with his more than 10 years in education, will focus on the district’s current enrollment trends and create a viable strategy to increase the number of families and students choosing ϱ ISD,” said Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde. “As a native of ϱ and a parent in the district, I am confident he knows how to reach parents and share the many opportunities the district provides."
Delgado earned his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and his master's degree from The University of Texas at ϱ. He is the proud father of two children who attend Joslin and St. Elmo elementary schools.
