Culture in Culinary: Superintendent Paul Cruz Tastes ÁùºÏ±¦µä's New International Menu Item

ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD Superintendent Paul Cruz invites media to highlight some of ÁùºÏ±¦µä's newest international menu items.

School lunch menus at ÁùºÏ±¦µä feature many global flavors to introduce students to new foods and provide learning opportunities about cultural foodways. Items added to the menu for this school year that will be featured at this event include vegetarian manicotti, braised lentil tostada, and a mango smoothie made with local yogurt and homemade granola. We will also be featuring carrots from Johnson's Backyard Garden and a salad bar.

Who: Superintendent Paul Cruz and Food Services Executive Director Anneliese Tanner will be visiting a cafeteria to try new items added to this year's lunch menu.

When: 12 p.m., Monday, Aug. 19

Arrive at noon for an opportunity to try the delicious mango smoothie from our ÁùºÏ±¦µä Food Truck and to enter the kitchen to film b-roll footage if needed.

Where: Dawson Elementary School, 3001 S 1st St.

ÁùºÏ±¦µä is reinventing the urban school meal experience through programs such as breakfast in the classroom, food trucks, salad bars, and increased scratch-cooking.
