On Saturday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the ÁùºÏ±¦µä's Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd, ÁùºÏ±¦µä will recognize 219 Latino students, representing every middle and high school, for academic achievement and for excelling in Fine Arts, Athletics, ESL and Dual Language programs.
The district will also recognize community leaders for their contributions and support for the district's students and campuses.
Latino Community Service Award: Any individual, not currently an ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD staff member, Latino or not, who has provided public and civil service to benefit Latino students and/or families in ÁùºÏ±¦µä for a minimum of two consecutive years.
- Victor B. Sáenz, Ph.D., Founder and Executive Director of Project MALES and the Texas Education Consortium for Male Students of Color.
Latino Excellence in Advocacy Award: Any organization, Latino or not, which has provided outstanding support in advancing Latino academic achievement and promoting educational outcomes in ÁùºÏ±¦µä for a minimum of two consecutive years.

Latino Parent Volunteer Award: Any individual of Latino origin and parent (or family member) of a current ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD student, who has volunteered a significant amount of service in a school-specific or district-wide capacity for a minimum of two consecutive years.
