At the annual statewide Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) sponsored by the Texas Art Education, the ÁùºÏ±¦µä brought home top awards for 857 pieces of art created by high school students.
The highest possible rating at the regional event is a four. From all of the works that received a 4 at the regional event, 10 percent are selected to advance to the state competition. ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD teachers from 14 high schools took 835 students and 1151 pieces of art to the event. 136 Artworks from across the region advanced to State. Ninety-five of those were from ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD.
The event was held on March 2 at San Marcos High School. Students participate in VASE (the Visual Art UIL equivalent) each year competing against state standards at the regional, and state levels. At the regional level, adjudication is based on the work itself, an interview, and the supporting information provided by the artists.
The mission of the TAEA Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve.
