Dollars and Cents: ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD Holds Second Series of Budget Community Conversations

A second series of ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD's Budget Community Conversations begins this week and people will get a look into ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD's preliminary 2018-19 budget proposal.
 
Attendees will hear what priorities were developed during the first round of community meetings, as well as how participant feedback has shaped the proposed budget. The conversation will also include an update on efforts to keep district spending aligned with anticipated revenues.
 
Presenters will share next steps in the district's multiyear budget stabilization planning, which include the formation of a budget stabilization task force that will meet over the summer. The task force will evaluate actions the district could take to balance the budget over the next two to three years.

Background: ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD's budget is greatly impacted by the state school finance system, which has put the district in a difficult fiscal situation. This compounded with a slight decline in student enrollment, have led to an estimated $30 million budget shortfall for the 2018-19 school year. *Please note, this meeting is hosted by the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Young Chamber and will include an introduction to the ÁùºÏ±¦µä budget. Those who attend on April 25 will receive the same information as the others, but with more background on the district's budget deficit.
