Deadline to apply is Jan. 29
ÁùºÏ±¦µä is now accepting applications for Pre-K tuition programs—including 12 dual-language programs—at 36 elementary schools.
The annual tuition for the programs is $4,656 per student, payable by semester or monthly.
Children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year and who do not qualify for free Pre-K are eligible to enroll in the tuition-supported prekindergarten program.
Students who are eligible for free Pre-K either qualify for the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities or the state-mandated prekindergarten program provided for qualifying students.
Parents choose which school they would prefer their child to attend. If there is not enough space for all the students who have applied at a school, students are admitted through a lottery system.
The deadline for applications to be included in the lottery is Friday, Jan. 29.
Applications are available at the campuses where the programs are offered.
The district offers tuition-supported Pre-K programs at Baldwin, Blackshear, Boone, Brooke, Casis, Cowan, Davis, Galindo, Govalle, Gullet, Guerrero Thompson, Joslin, Kocurek, Maplewood, Mathews, Menchaca, Metz, Mills, Ortega, Palm, Patton, Read, Williams and Zilker elementary schools.
ÁùºÏ±¦µä also offers dual-language, tuition-supported programs in Spanish at Becker, Blanton, Brentwood, Casey, Cunningham, Dawson, Perez, Ridgetop, Sunset Valley, Travis Heights and Wooten elementary schools. The district offers one program in Vietnamese at Summitt Elementary School.
Registration for the district's free Pre-K programs begins in April.
