The budget for ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD, the fifth-largest school district in Texas, is more than $1 billion. It is estimated that nearly a quarter of the property taxes collected by the district go to the state. This amount will increase to one-third over time as property appraisal values increase. The vast majority of ÁùºÏ±¦µä's general fund, 87 percent of the budget, is allocated toward salaries for its 12,000 employees. The budget supports ÁùºÏ±¦µä's approximately 85,000 students at 129 campuses.
