ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD’s Lanier High School will celebrate College Night with a special event presented by ÁùºÏ±¦µä Police Department’s Leaders in Knowledge and Support (LinKS).
Who: Guest speakers will deliver inspirational messages to students about attending college:
- Vince Young, six-season NFL player and former University of Texas at ÁùºÏ±¦µä quarterback;
- and former Lanier High School Principal Patrick Patterson
Where: Lanier Theatre, 1201 Payton Gin Road
When: 6–7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21
Background: This event is part of a month-long focus on the importance of college readiness.
ÁùºÏ±¦µä Police LinKS is a program that gives students the opportunity to volunteer, take a confidence course and tour entities ranging from the Capitol to college campuses.
On Jan. 20, Lanier will also host a special PSAT Results Night where parents and students will learn about the college application process, financial aid and other information about choosing a college. Throughout the month of January, LinKS will bring in college representatives to speak with Lanier students who are part of the LinKS program about their colleges and the programs offered at those schools.
