WHO: ÁùºÏ±¦µä Community Foundation, Essilor Vision Foundation (Dallas), Seton Healthcare Family, Kids Vision for Life Central Texas, ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD and community leaders, optometrists, elementary school children
WHAT: Ribbon cutting for new 40-foot Kids Vision for Life Central Texas mobile clinic fully equipped to provide eye exams and make prescription glasses on site
WHERE: Perez Elementary School parking lot, 7500 Pleasant Valley Road
WHEN: 10-11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 20
WHY: The Kids Vision for Life Central Texas mobile clinic provides vision services to low-income children through school clinics and community events at no cost to their families. Up to 75 percent of students who fail their vision screening at school do not report having had a follow-up exam by an optometrist by the end of the school year.
DETAILS: 5-8 children will be examined, choose and receive their eyeglasses. Community leaders will cut a ribbon to officially open the new mobile vision clinic.
