ÁùºÏ±¦µä Students Show Off New Talents During Afterschool Showcase

ÁùºÏ±¦µä, TX—Today, ÁùºÏ±¦µä students showed off the new skills they learned in after-school programs during the 18th annual Afterschool Showcase. The event highlights student accomplishments and informs the community about the variety of after-school programs available to students. Student exhibits included Lego robotics, environmental science, golf lessons and creating bouncing slime.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area, A Community for Education - ÁùºÏ±¦µä and ÁùºÏ±¦µä Prime Time work with students in Title 1 schools to provide hands-on learning opportunities outside of the regular school instruction day.

"Our teachers work hard throughout the year to create engaging and creative learning activities for the youth in our programs," A Community for Education Coordinator Shirlene Justice said. "The showcase brings together a celebration of the students' successes, while showing the community how fun the programs can be."

ÁùºÏ±¦µä's after-school programs are designed to teach students new skills and concepts through hands-on, informal learning that complements what students learn during the school day. The programs are provided at no cost to students and their families thanks to funding from 21st Century Community Learning Centers, the City of ÁùºÏ±¦µä and the Travis County Collaborative Afterschool program.
