Solar Mural Dedicated in Honor of Retired Graham Elementary Teacher Angie Roberts

ÁùºÏ±¦µä, TX— For more than four decades, Angie Roberts spent her days teaching students at ÁùºÏ±¦µä (ÁùºÏ±¦µä) and 28 of those years were at Graham Elementary. Roberts retired in May 2011 and the staff and students at Graham Elementary honored her during a special Dedication Ceremony of an interactive solar mural on Wednesday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. The ceremony took place at Graham Elementary, located at 11211 Tom Adams Drive, ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Texas.

Students and staff at Graham Elementary worked together for the past year and a half to create the interactive mural. The 15 foot by 30 foot display will be used to teach students about the solar system. Students and staff dedicated the mural to Roberts because of her passion for science programs at ÁùºÏ±¦µä. Roberts motivated students each year to create unique and challenging projects for the science fair. She also created an award-winning recycling program at Graham.

"Many teachers retire after 20 years of service, but Mrs. Roberts was extremely committed to doing what she truly loved," said Blaine Helwig, Graham Elementary principal. "She was a stellar teacher and her passion for science will continue at Graham through our new, interactive mural."

Roberts started her career with ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD in 1969 as a sixth grade teacher at Harris Elementary. After more than a decade there, she started teaching at Graham Elementary and was most recently a fifth grade teacher.
