LBJ Students Broadcast from South by Southwest

This year, for the first time ever, the  LBJ High School Internet radio station, JAG Radio,  was asked to broadcast live reports from the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Convention Center during the South by Southwest Music and Media conference.

The students, senior Donnie Harris and 9th-grader Sirion Hastings,  conducted interviews with technology company CEOs, musicians, artists and athletes during the events, which coincided with Spring Break for the students. “

“This opportunity not only gave students valuable interview experience, but provided them with wonderful networking opportunities as well, “said Alicia Turner, School Improvement Facilitator. “They held their own interviewing CEO's from technology companies from around the world.   They even hustled and snagged interviews with bands, artist and athletes.  One of the interviews was with Limas Sweed, a former University of Texas football player who is currently playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Another interview, with a band from Colombia, was conducted in both English and Spanish by Donnie, who is fluent in both languages. “
