ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD invites the community to join faculty, staff, students and their families and the District All-Star Band to march in the annual Historical Juneteenth Parade.
Juneteenth commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas in June 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect.
ÁùºÏ±¦µä participants will meet no later than 9 a.m. at the Rising Star Baptist Church located at 1710 E 20th St, ÁùºÏ±¦µä, TX 78722.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will proceed down Chicon Street and Rosewood Avenue to Rosewood and Boggy Creek Park, 2300 Rosewood Ave. We will have an ÁùºÏ±¦µä bus in our parade contingent for those who wish to participate but cannot walk for long distances.
More details on the Juneteenth Parade and Festival are available online at .
The parade route is roughly 1.2 miles and it is highly suggested that attendees wear comfortable clothing, walking shoes, sunscreen and bring water.
