On Friday, the Casis Elementary community celebrated the groundbreaking — virtually — for its new modernization project.
The modernization is part of the 2017 Bond that has funded other projects including the renovations of T.A. Brown, Menchaca and Govalle elementaries.
The virtual groundbreaking was broadcast on ϱ.TV and Facebook Live, where students, families and staff were able to view the virtual ceremony from home.
“We are extremely excited about this moment and we cannot wait to see how amazing our new modernized school will be,” Principal Samuel Tinnon said. “Casis is an older school with a very strong history. We want to preserve that in our modernization, so the new design will have the same footprint so we can continue the legacy and the history of Casis.”
The groundbreaking celebration began with a virtual tour from Tinnon who highlighted some of the modernization plans as well as the new creative spaces.
Plans for the project include multiple outdoor spaces where children can learn creatively, new classrooms with flexible furniture and a library.
