The Reagan Early College High School community of teachers, staff, families and friends joined graduating seniors at the Frank Erwin Center today to celebrate the Class of 2019.
Superintendent Paul Cruz congratulated 222 Reagan graduates, and highlighted some of the class's achievements.
- Four distinction designations for academics awarded by Texas Education Agency.
- Sixty-one students are graduating with college credit, and 15 students graduated with both their high school diploma and their associate degree.
- More than $1 million awarded to students in grants and scholarships.
Salutatorian Delaney Dewberry thanked her classmates, teachers and family.
"We are going to prosper, but we're going to make mistakes and trip a little bit on our different paths on this track called life," Dewberry said. "Those are the kinds of moments we need the most, because it's in those moments that we truly appreciate everything we have and everything we've accomplished."
Principal Anabel Garza congratulated the Class of 2019 and wished them well on the next step of their journey.
"Turn your fear into passion, hope, excitement—recognizing your worth and expanding the possibilities in your future," she said. "Pick up the torch, shake off the fear, put one foot in front of the other and start the first day of the rest of your life with the knowledge and enthusiasm that you have been coached and mentored to take on the world."
