‘Reinvention Roadmap’ Approved for Programs, Repurposing and Consolidations

School Changes Meetings for 2019

The ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD Board of Trustees approved the Reinvention Roadmap (ZIP), which will guide the district’s work in repurposing, consolidation and better facility planning to bring all students into 21st-century learning spaces.

As part of this process, the school district will continue to work with community partners like the city of ÁùºÏ±¦µä and Travis County to determine how some repurposed facilities could provide a community benefit such as affordable housing, parkland, resource centers or recreation spaces.

The timeline includes both operational and community engagement activities each step of the way to ensure all students and staff impacted by potential changes have a voice. District staff will work with the board and community members to create guiding principles and scenarios throughout the spring semester.

The seven-phase plan includes identifying potential campus effects in August with final approval of the impacted campus plans in October. The timeline allows for all campuses to be student-ready by August 2020.

The board began discussions with ÁùºÏ±¦µä staff at its Feb. 11 work session to guide the development of criteria to assess all campus facilities. Facilities will be evaluated on multiple factors including, but not limited to, facility condition and education suitability assessment scores, enrollment and program offerings.
