As she scored the 2,000th point of her basketball career, Crockett ECHS senior Jordyn Carter joined an elite group of high school athletes—and made it look easy.
Up against the Lanier Lady Vikings on Jan. 2, and with 1:27 in the third quarter, Carter got herself to the free throw line and got the bucket she needed to reach 2,000 points.
She credited her success to hard work and the support of her teammates.
“I worked hard building up my game, and with the help of my teammates and the chemistry we have built, I have been able to score so much more easily," she said.
Coach Jennifer Shuttlesworth said it has been more than just Carter's ability to score that has helped lead the Lady Cougars to their best season ever.
“There is a saying that if your best player is your hardest worker, you can accomplish great things," Shuttlesworth said. "Her confidence and energy have helped to lead this team to its most successful season in school history.”
Crockett's season record is 26 wins and three losses, a record-breaking year for the squad. They're currently undefeated in district play at 7-0. With a win against Dripping Springs on Jan. 18, they'll secure the district title.
