Lanier Early College High School and Lanier Graduation Prep Academy honored about 280 seniors at their graduation ceremony this afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center.
The Class of 2018 recorded several noteworthy accomplishments:
- Valeria Gonzalez and Leticia Marure placed first in the Texas Association of Future Educators state competition. They wrote and illustrated an original children's book for Pre-K students and will compete at the Educator's Rising national competition June 21-24 in Florida.
- Felipe Martinez and Joel Arias are among the first ever high school graduates to receive their structural welding certificate from ÁùºÏ±¦µä Community College prior to graduating.
- Isabella Llamas was recognized as a two-year qualifier for the state wrestling tournament and was ranked top four in the region, as well as in the top 10 wrestlers in the state at her weight class.
- E'Jhana King was recognized as district defensive basketball player of the year and first team all-district.
Lanier Valedictorian Ariel Guzman talked about showing commitment and determination in spite of personal struggle.
"As long as you hold tight to your dreams—and accept the challenges that come with them—then you will be successful," she said
