ÁùºÏ±¦µä High School teacher Annie Dragoo has been named as a 2017 K–12 Theatre Educator of the Year.
The Texas Educational Theatre Association honored Dragoo today at an awards banquet at the TETA annual conference in Galveston.
Dragoo has worked at ÁùºÏ±¦µä High School since 2004. In that time, she has co-directed the ÁùºÏ±¦µä High Theatre Program to the University Interscholastic League one-act play state competition four times.
The group was named state champion in 2012, and was awarded second place in 2017.
In addition to her successes in UIL, Dragoo founded the nationally recognized musical theatre program at ÁùºÏ±¦µä High, and her curriculum was adopted by the Texas Education Agency to make musical theatre a recognized fine arts elective in Texas.
Theatre educators and administrators from throughout Texas are eligible for the award through a nomination process.
