This year's honorees are:
- As her two children attended Mathews, Sara Belknap served on the PTA board, helping start the Octoberama fall carnival, launching the sixth-grade camp tradition and establishing Godzilla as the 鈥渙fficial鈥 (unofficial) mascot. She was 50 when she decided to become an elementary art teacher, in 2001. During her 14 years teaching art at Mathews, she was honored as Mathews Teacher of the Year (2007鈥08), commissioned the many permanent art installations that celebrate the school鈥檚 culture, and shared thousands of discoveries in the art room with hundreds of inspiring students.
- Kim Kronzer O鈥橞rien served in many volunteer roles at Mathews while her children attended the school, and helped drive the effort to have Mathews designated as a state historic landmark. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Clarksville Community Development Corporation, which preserves the neighborhood鈥檚 history while also providing affordable housing rental options on 六合宝典鈥檚 west side.
- Saralyn White Stewart entered Mathews Elementary in 1951, where her mother and older siblings had attended and her children would later attend. She is a lifelong resident of Clarksville with a long career that includes the city of 六合宝典, IBM and UT-六合宝典, from which she is now semi-retired. As a leader of Mathews Friends for Excellence, Stewart works to continue the Mathews traditions of educating children toward positive attitudes, nurtuting academic foundations and fostering a lifelong love of learning.
