ÁùºÏ±¦µä Participates in Juneteenth Parade

Help ÁùºÏ±¦µä teachers, staff and board of trustees members celebrate Juneteenth as we take part in the city of ÁùºÏ±¦µä's annual parade!

Set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, the Historical Juneteenth Parade will follow .

Participants will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Kealing Middle School, 1607 Pennsylvania Ave., to take a school bus to the starting zone, located at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and IH-35. The parade will last until about 11 a.m.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a holiday commemorating the day Texas learned that President Abraham Lincoln had declared an end to slavery. The official holiday is June 19.

The Greater East ÁùºÏ±¦µä Youth Association, the city of ÁùºÏ±¦µä and ÁùºÏ±¦µä Parks and Recreation sponsor the parade.
