Grand Opening of Lanier High School Community Garden

Lanier High School, along with its community, neighbors, and sponsors, officially unveils the new Lanier Community Garden with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, on Thursday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. The Lanier Garden was made possible as a part of a Green Grant received through a collaboration between the Northwest ÁùºÏ±¦µä Rotary Club and the rotary Club Monterrey Obispado, in Mexico.

The grant has made possible the addition of a community organic garden to Lanier's agriculture program. The purpose of the garden is to educate students, parents and the community on the importance, feasibility, and cost savings of growing and eating healthy, locally grown fruits and vegetables. Lanier Agriculture students and families from the Multicultural Refugee Coalition are the first garden tenants, but more plots will be available for members of the Lanier Community.

The April 17th Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will host: District Governors, members from the Monterrey, Mexico and Northwest ÁùºÏ±¦µä Rotary Clubs, ÁùºÏ±¦µä ISD administrators, Lanier staff and students, and members of the Mexican Consulate.
