Please note that the 16-month benefit plan running from September 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014 remains in effect. As a reminder, the intent of this effort is to move all of our benefit plans to coincide with the calendar year, beginning on January 1, 2015.
However, by law, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) can only operate for a maximum of 12 months. As a result it is necessary to provide the opportunity for employees participating (or interested) in the FSAs for medical or dependent care reimbursement to re-enroll for the period of August 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014.
This will be a short flex plan period intended to cover the final 5 months of the year. Employees must enroll in May 2014 to participate in this shortened period. Please be aware that flexible spending account maximums will be pro-rated for this shorten plan coverage period. Short plan year maximums will be $1,041.66 for Medical FSA and $2,083.33 for Dependent Care Reimbursement. The enrollment system will not allow you to exceed the maximum.
During the month of May 2014, employees can enroll in or update their flexible spending account by contacting ÁùºÏ±¦µä’s benefits call center at 866-914-5202 Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or by enrolling online at
Current Medical FSA Participants are reminded to keep your flex cards as they are valid for 4 years from the issue date. The cost to replace a missing or lost card is $5.00
Please be aware: The May 2014 Open Enrollment will also be available for employees needing to add dependents or make other changes to their current benefits selections. With the exception of FSAs, all of your current benefits will remain the same unless you log in during the enrollment period and make a change to your elections (i.e., if you do nothing your benefits will remain the same).
Flexible spending account elections will be effective August 1, 2014. Any other updated benefit elections such as medical, dental and vision will be effective September 1, 2014.
Moving forward, the new 12-month plan year will run from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015. Please note there will be another Open Enrollment period in Fall 2014 for the 2015 plan year.
