The Ladies of Distinction Honoring Day at the Capitol

The Ladies of Distinction were honored by the African American Heritage Committee on Jan. 20 at the state Capitol for their volunteer services in their community. This was an amazing honor that showed a true representation of how positive things do occur in the greater east ÁùºÏ±¦µä area.

The Ladies of Distinction were established in 2012 and have quickly grown from six to 30 members in fewer than two years. They were founded by Kerrie Carter, a teacher and coach at LBJ High School, who had a vision to inspire young women to change their lives.

LOD is all about changing the community, building relationships and mentoring the younger generation.
