Superintendent's Statement on Board Evaluation

AUSTIN, Texas--The ÁùºÏ±¦µä released the following statement from Superintendent Meria Carstarphen after the Board of Trustees President Vincent Torres provided an  of the superintendent's evaluation for the 2012-13 school year:

I am pleased with the board’s evaluation of my performance as superintendent. Having the trustees acknowledge the hard work and improvements made over the past year is a vote of confidence for me but especially for the staff and students who are at the heart of our district.

I am proud of the work we have done during the past four years. In short, this is ÁùºÏ±¦µä’s best performance under the highest, toughest accountability standards in the state’s history--with dwindling resources, while serving a growing and incredibly diverse student body. We have done this while retaining, hiring and attracting some of the best talent in the region. As a district, we continue to come together to support and help each other. Our work is working. And, as a superintendent, I couldn’t be more proud.

As the superintendent of a diverse district in a city of ideas and innovation, it is a privilege to serve the students and families of ÁùºÏ±¦µä with this amazing team of educators and partners.
