ÁùºÏ±¦µä PD Report Student Shot Himself at Lanier

The ÁùºÏ±¦µä community is deeply saddened to report a student shot himself at Lanier High School earlier today, Tuesday, Oct. 15. The student has succumbed to the wound. 

Counseling services have been available to students, families and staff since the incident today. Students can continue to receive counseling services in the Lanier High School’s Health Science wing next to the theater until 6 p.m. today and the remainder of the week.

We encourage students, families and staff to call the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Travis County’s mobile crisis outreach team 24-hours at 512-472-HELP (4357) for counseling over the phone. 

As news coverage about the tragedy continues, students may have questions about the incident. Talking about tragedy with children is important, but can be difficult.  The district's learning support services team alsowith parents about how they can discuss the tragedy with children at home.
