Cunningham Elementary School was awarded a $3,000 grant from the City of ÁùºÏ±¦µä's Bright Green Future Grant program.
The goal of the grant is to promote environmental stewardship in the current student generation. Grants are intended to foster school-wide and in-classroom environmental actions and to encourage environmental practices and programs involving students, parents, teachers, principals, custodians and district-level administrators in ÁùºÏ±¦µä K-12 public and private schools.
ÁùºÏ±¦µä City Manager Marc Ott and city staff members presented a check to the school Friday, Jan. 25. The money will be used to build a covered demonstration structure in the PEAS Community Farm, on the school grounds, and to fund future programming and cooking demonstrations under the structure promoting delicious ways to use organically grown campus vegetables.
