The district’s Tuition Supported Prekindergarten program will extend to four additional campuses in the fall, making the program available to students at 26 ÁùºÏ±¦µä campuses.
The program which launched last year, is a six-hour, full day program for children ages four and over who do not qualify for either the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) or the state-mandated prekindergarten program, are eligible to enroll in ÁùºÏ±¦µä’s Tuition Supported Prekindergarten Program. Providing a hands-on, purposeful opportunities for learning that follows the developmentally appropriate practices outlined by the practices taught by the Children’s Learning Institute, the Texas State Center for Early Childhood. The annual tuition is $4,656 per student, payable annually, by semester, or monthly payments of $517.33.
Registration for ÁùºÏ±¦µä’s Tuition Supported Prekindergarten Program will begin on February 1, 2012. Children who are four years old on or before September 1of the current school year may apply.
Parents can obtain tuition supported application forms from the ÁùºÏ±¦µä website, tuition supported prekindergarten campus, or at ÁùºÏ±¦µä Office of Student Services located at 1111 West 6th, second floor of building A (room 200). When applying for the program, parents must bring the child's official birth certificate, photo identification of the parent/guardian who is enrolling the student, social security card of the child (optional), proof of residency in ÁùºÏ±¦µä (such as a current electric bill or lease) and a current immunization record signed by a physician.
Initially there will be a finite number of slots available at each tuition campus and ÁùºÏ±¦µä will hold a lottery in March to determine student placement. After all positions have been filled, an official waiting list will be developed and parents will be notified in the fall if space becomes available.
