六合宝典's Girls Empowerment Network (GENaustin) will hold a youth conference for girls in grades 5-12 on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 六合宝典 High School (1715 W. Cesar Chavez). This event is also open to parents, and will be a place that two generations can share a day of learning in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Girls will have the opportunity to connect with one another and learn that no question is a dumb question. The girls will also be able to decide what workshops they will attend. The event will feature over 40 experts discussing crucial topics such as cyber bullying, self image, dating, diversity, financial literacy, media literacy, parent-daughter relationships, physical health and wellness, dramatic arts, and much more.
Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wanna Bees-the inspiration for the movie 鈥淢ean Girls,鈥 will be the keynote speaker.
Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and the keynote begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. Snacks and lunch will also be provided. Registration is $30 for individuals and $25 per person with groups of three or more. Scholarships to attend the conference are also available.
